AUGUST / SEPTEMBER WALKS PROGRAMME
It has been encouraging to discover that White Cliffs members are keen to get back to group led walks, albeit in a significantly different format than before. The first walk 'sold out' within 90 minutes of the walks programme being circulated! Since then, several other walks have become fully booked:
- Sunday 2nd August Hythe - Saltwood 10:00 Spaces are still available on the 10:30 and 11:00 walks
- Thursday 6th August Faversham 10:00 and 10:30 both fully booked
- Thursday 13th August Chilham All 3 walks are now fully booked
- Thursday 27th August Bridge 10:00 At the time of writing there is 1 space left on the 10:30 walk.
- Thursday 10th September St. Margaret's 10:00
- Thursday 24th September Aldington 10:00
We have asked all walk leaders to let us know when their walks have become fully booked. When we receive this information, we are updating the walk details that are published via the Ramblers website. It is worth checking the website to make sure that places are still available: See https://www.ramblers.org.uk/find-a-walk.aspx?layer=walks&tab=walks&group=KT09 - there is also a link to this page via the White Cliffs website.
When we put the walks programme together, we were uncertain as to what sort of demand there would be. It is for this reason that we requested that you did not book more than 2 walks in any one month - walk leaders, the walk you lead does not count towards this! We felt that this was the only fair way that everyone who wanted to, could be given an opportunity to join a walk. Having discussed this as a Committee, we agreed that we would relax this requirement if there were still spaces available shortly ahead of the walk. Details of any vacant spaces will be sent out via email, but please remember to book and not just turn up on the day.
If for any reason, you are unable to attend a walk that you are booked on please let the walk leader know as soon as possible so that your place can be released to someone else.
Please do not attempt to join any walk if:
- you have had any of the following symptoms during the previous 7 days - a high temperature, a new continuous cough, the loss, or a change to your sense of smell or taste: OR
- If you have recently (within the previous 14 days) had contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid - 19
YOUR BOOKING DETAILS
When you book your place on a walk, we have asked walk leaders to keep a record of your name and contact details. This list will be used to confirm attendances and if necessary shared with NHS Track and Trace. These records must be kept for 21 days after the walk, and then will be destroyed. We have amended the guidance that was circulated with the walk programme to better reflect this.
Any further updates to the guidance will be published via the 'Stop Press' page of the WCR website:
